Apartment building at Räägu str 9Räägu str 9, Tallinn

The Räägu 9 apartment building in Tallinn has a category A energy label. Compared to apartment buildings completed in the past, this one has thicker insulation in the exterior walls and roof, triple pane windows in a wood/aluminium frame and apartment-specific ventilation units with heat exchangers. A particularity of the project is that the building is segmented into two parts: a smaller front part parallel to the street and a larger main part perpendicular to the street. One characteristic of the building’s external facade design is the patterned segmentation with loggias and the vertical glass surfaces of the entrance halls. The architect is Paavo Kais. The building has a unique “armoured shell” in the form of a Caparol facade system with brick slips. The tone of the facade stones is yellow, which along with the white mortar surfaces leaves a pleasing impression. The apartments have a good interior design, with spacious doorways with stained wood door and window frames and two-strip board parquet along with veneered doors in the same tone as the floor (sliding doors in the larger units). The wash rooms in the apartments are replete with long Eumar sink and countertops, furniture sets and, as a new feature, Kaldewei shower trays integrated flush into the floor. Customers who bought a home in this appealing, energy-efficient building have made a long-term investment in their future.
