Merko Ehitus Eesti and Merko Infra laid 70 kilometres of water pipeline and 72 kilometres of sewerage pipelines in parts 1, 2 and 3 of construction of the Vääna-Jõesuu water supply and sewerage system. More than 2,400 registered plots of land can now be hooked up to the water and sewerage mains, which improves the standard of living significantly for the local population. In addition, the company laid water lines running all the way to the homes. A total of 38 waste water pumping stations were established to serve the entire area. Construction began in January 2013, and over 20 km of pipeline was laid per month at peak intervals. The work was performed with seven different pipe construction subcontractors, the 35 crews fielded by which was led by three Merko site managers. To ensure that the work progressed smoothly, Merko organized on-site soil deposition and storage of pipeline material, ensuring maximum convenience for the subcontractors in performing the work. Merko completed the first three parts of the work one and half years ahead of deadline. The rapid results were made possible by the constructive and efficient cooperation with the contracting entity, the local inhabitants and subcontractors.
