Renovation of the Kilingi-Nõmme 110 kV switchgearKilingi-Nõmme, Pärnumaa

The old Kilingi-Nõmme 110/35/15kV substation was built in 1967 and was in bad need of renovation to increase the reliability of supply in the area. The last push for starting renovation work came from the construction of the new Tartu-Viljandi-Sindi 330/110kV overhead line. In this project, a substation with five 110 kV cells and a new command centre were built. Of the existing 110/35/15kV power transformers, one was renovated and another was replaced with a new, transformer supplied in a separate project, new foundations and noise barriers were built for the transformers. In addition, a 50 m³ firefighting water extraction site was built on the substation territory. The substation was built and brought on line in two stages, as there was not enough room for the construction and final completion necessitated the complete dismantling of the old substation’s equipment.
