The purpose of expanding Tamsalu city’s 35/10 kV substation, completely renovated in 2013, was to increase the reliability of electricity supply in the area. The contract called for design-build of 35 kV and 10 kV switchgear and two 10 kV bays for the substation’s own use and arc extinguishing chamber. The construction took place in very constricted conditions and next to the old substation, which remained electrically live. This imposed restrictions on the work. The construction work on Tamsalu substation included construction of the 35 kV and 10 kV switchgear and relay rooms, earth-moving work, installation of equipment, connecting cables and work to configure and integrate the equipment with the existing transformers.

On 1 July 2021, Merko Ehitus Eesti acquired a stake in Connecto Eesti, and the Merko electrical construction business line merged with Connecto. Acting jointly under the Connecto brand makes it possible for us to offer a significantly broader range of services – in addition to the design, construction and maintenance of low, medium and high voltage electricity networks, Connecto also operates in the field of telecommunications and gas networks.
