Tondi hostel has 5 floors, 192 bed places and 48 apartments, the gross area of which reaches 3,072 m². During the excavation works also several surprises occurred for the builders. On the basis of the preliminary inspection the natural sand layer was under the layer of gravel, when digging deeper, the tyres, rubber and other domestic waste appeared – it occurred that it has been the limestone quarry once which later was filled in with the garbage. The excavation works were started again and in addition to the plan 1,000 m³ of soil had to be delivered more and filled with sand. In the course of demolition works the rail ties, which turned out to be very hazardous environmentally and had to be utilised and 138 m³ of limestone needing to be splitted, appeared.
