Design and construction contract for the construction of a tramway connecting Old City Harbour and Rail Baltic’s Ülemiste passenger terminal.
The new tramway section, which was built as a branch of the existing tram corridors, is approximately 2.5 kilometres long, and it starts at the intersection of Kivisilla and Gonsiori streets and extends to Põhja Avenue. The construction of the new tram line involved a large number of reconstruction works in the urban area. The Tartu Road tramway branches to the left on Gonsiori Street. The route continues through Laikmaa, Hobujaama and Ahtri streets to the port area. The new line passes Terminal A via Laeva, Kuunari and Kai streets, and continues under Linnahall via Logi and Rumbi streets. When arriving at Kultuurikatel, the tramway joins the Kopli tramway running from Mere and Põhja avenues.
City Harbour tram line connects the most important gates of not only Tallinn, but the whole country: the gateways by sea, air, rail and bus. The new tram line creates fast and convenient connections for all commuters and guests arriving in Tallinn.
The Old Harbour tramway works was partly financed by the Restoration and Resilience Fund (RRF).
