Installation “Pesa 2” (Nest 2)

“Nest 2” is the second installation in Noblessner that combines light and metal art. While the first nest was erected in 2024 at Peetri 8, the second nest is located along Lennusadama Street, on the edge of the future boathouse park and near the Taru Nature House.

The bird’s nest, made of metal branches and measuring over 2.5 meters in diameter, along with the illuminated bird eggs inside it, is situated nearly 20 meters high atop a former light pole. “Pesa 2” emphasizes the importance of the living environment and alludes to the search for a cozy home. Just as a bird builds its nest where it feels safe and comfortable, Noblessner is also a highly valued place to live.

Inspired by its seaside location, this nest was designed with a more rugged form than the first one. The branches are modeled after the angle irons of the old light tower’s structure. The mold used to cast the light eggs was reused from the previous installation. While the first nest contained three light eggs, the new one has two.

“Nest 2” was created by the interior design studio Inimruum and the lighting design studio UN-LIKE, with the bird’s nest woven by metal artist Heigo Jelle.

For Merko, a high-quality home also includes the urban space surrounding the buildings. With the goal of enriching the shared living environment and offering Estonian artists the opportunity to exhibit their works, Merko has enhanced Tallinn’s public urban space with more than 20 individual artworks and sculpture groups.
