The 142-kilometre section of the Estonian part of the Rail Baltica between Tallinn and Pärnu will be built in close cooperation between the contracting authority, the contractor and the designer, in accordance with the principles of alliance procurement. The scope of works includes the main construction of the main railway line on the section between Tallinn Ülemiste passenger terminal and Pärnu, and the construction of the railway foundations on the section between Tootsi and Pärnu.
The alliance’s team includes Rail Baltic Estonia as the contracting authority and, in addition to Merko, GRK Eesti, GRK Suomi, NGE CONTRACTING, Sweco Finland, Sweco Sverige and TSO as the design and construction companies.
The contracting authority has estimated the cost of the works at €394 million, with the aim of opening the high-speed train service between Tallinn and Warsaw in 2030. In accordance with the principle of an alliance contract, the schedule for the design and construction of the section and the final cost of the works will be determined in cooperation between the parties during the development and execution phases of the contract.
