Sculpture “Good Old Times”
Edith Karlson’s gigantic aluminium sculpture “Good Old Times” at Noblessner Square in Tallinn is as if frozen into a huge fossil. People visiting the seaside quarter suddenly see something that reminds them that the world was bustling with life long before we came along. The aluminium surface of the sculpture is coarse and rough-hewn and enters an interesting dialogue with the surrounding buildings and Noblessner Square. The 5-metre tall object immediately draws attention, poses questions and creates fantasies.
“Good Old Times” is to date the biggest aluminium sculpture installed in a public urban space in the Baltic region and one of the few large-scale pieces of art created at the initiative of the private sector since Estonia regained its independence. It was supported by Merko and BLRT Group.
