Sculpture “In Bloom”

The steel sculpture gracing the front of the Merko office building presents a captivating bouquet of flowers. Delicate blossoms taking the form of concrete mixers crown the robust stems as they emerge amidst the foliage. The sculpture is made from time-resistant galvanized and painted steel.

According to sculptor Heigo Jelle, the field of construction is often associated with a rough, angular and cement dust-stained aesthetic. He decided to portray this field in a way that is somewhat softer and more vibrant. The surrounding area is distinctly technocratic, and the Merko building itself dons the sleek and precise lines of a finely tailored suit. One could easily imagine a flower adorning its lapel, represented here by blooms as concrete mixers. The result introduces a more vibrant and human dimension to the industrial environment

This is one of many projects through which Merko and main shareholders of the company have contributed to society.
