Sculpture “Lessner’s Propeller”
The sculpture Lessner’s Propeller, situated on the quayside at the Noblessner Marina in Tallinn, represents a significant period spanning over a century (1912–2018) when Noblessner thrived as an active shipyard. It was named after Arthur Lessner, one of the founders of Noblessner, who, along with his business partner Emanuel Nobel, established a submarine shipyard here in 1912. The names of these two men provided the submarine factory with its name. Today, Noblessner is one of Tallinn’s most beautiful urban spaces, opening to the sea.
With a diameter of nearly 7.5 meters and weighing 33 tonnes, the sculpture is an authentic bronze ship’s propeller, crafted at the Alstom Power factory in Elbląg, Poland. Transported from the Turku Repair Shipyard in Naantali, Finland, it is a unique piece unlike any other found in Estonia or neighbouring countries. The sculpture was installed along the Noblessner seafront thanks to the generous support of several BLRT Group companies and partners. Merko designed and built its foundation.
This is one of many projects through which Merko and main shareholders of the company have contributed to society.
