Sculpture “Mushroom Man”
The Uus-Veerenni residential quarter Merko is constructing in Central Tallinn will be home to approximately 1,500 families. Enriching this modern living environment artistically is the steel sculpture “Mushroom Man” by Heigo Jelle. According to the sculptor, the piece takes after the quiet and peaceful life form of a mushroom – more precisely, the most infamous, alluring and mysterious of all the mushrooms growing in our parts: the fly agaric, often called the toadstool. The form of the sculpture is not a copy of the mushroom – that would be a bit too simplistic. Instead, the mushroom is personified as a toadstool-man. The two smaller forms next to him suggest that he too might be starting a family here.
This is one of many projects through which Merko and main shareholders of the company have contributed to society.
