Tallinn’s largest outdoor padel center to be established in Uus-Veerenni

Merko has entered into an agreement with Padelsquare to build outdoor padel courts in the Uus-Veerenni residential community being developed by Merko. Both residents and the general public can enjoy the first facility where padel can be played on four courts at the same time.

Construction activity is busy at Pille 21 to make it possible for the fun to start by mid-May. The facility with four panoramic courts is being built by Merko itself and the operator will be Padelsquare.

Director of Merko Kodud Indrek Tarto said that as a founder of the nationwide Eesti Terviserajad recreational trail project, Merko has contributed to expanding possibilities for exercise throughout the country. Merko’s residential projects are aligned with the same goal: people of all ages and activity preferences should have diverse opportunities to stay healthy.

“Building the padel courts in Uus-Veerenni is a good way of popularizing an active lifestyle as a precondition for good health and expand sports options in the community further. Our experience with activity areas previously completed at Uus-Veerenni show that availability of recreational facilities creates great conditions for spending quality time together. Since padel is a social activity, not only a sport, it brings people close together and is well-suited to every community,״ said Tarto.

Padelsquare, which operates padel centres in Pärnu and Laagri, will handle the day-to-day operations and court maintenance. One of the people behind Padelsquare, Mats Tamme, said that the locals in Pärnu and Laagri have received the new popular faculties with open arms.

“We have seen that about half of the people who use the new centre are already padel enthusiasts. The rest come to try it out because of the convenience and proximity to their homes, and they will mostly keep on playing the game. From May to September, many take the opportunity to play padel outdoors and the four outdoor courts should be a great solution in all respects for the needs of the Uus-Veerenni residents.״

Given that the only four-court facility in Estonia right now is in Viljandi, the establishment of the Uus-Veerenni courts will allow outdoor tournaments to be held in Tallinn as well. Besides regular playing slots, Padelsquare organizes events and tournaments and offers lessons, encouraging people to try out the new sport and spend time together doing something physically active.

Uus-Veerenni is a residential community under development by Merko. Today 38 buildings have been completed and are home to close to 500 families. The next residential building will be finished in summer 2026.
