Põlva substation is a standard 110 kV substation comprising two 110/35/10 kV power transformers and three 110 kV overhead transmission line columns. This renovation project was especially interesting but also complex due to the need to connect circuits to the old substation that is still partly functioning. In addition to the construction of the substation, two 110 kV overhead transmission line masts and one 60 m communications mast were erected. Relay protection works were done also at Võru and Kuuste substations that are connected to Põlva substation.
Thanks to the new substation, the reliability of the transmission Network of South-East Estonia has improved.
On 1 July 2021, Merko Ehitus Eesti acquired a stake in Connecto Eesti, and the Merko electrical construction business line merged with Connecto. Acting jointly under the Connecto brand makes it possible for us to offer a significantly broader range of services – in addition to the design, construction and maintenance of low, medium and high voltage electricity networks, Connecto also operates in the field of telecommunications and gas networks.
