Under the contract, a new 110/20kV substation was built in the village of Kiini in Viljandi County. The substation is supplying the Puiatu compressor station with electricity, which is part of the Balticconnector project linking the Estonian and Finnish gas transmission networks. In addition, security of supply of electricity increased in the area as the substation is also used to supply the final consumers.
A 110kV external switchyard, a control building and access roads were built at the Kiini substation. In addition, a 20kV switchgear was installed in the building, and a foundation for the transformer base with an oil separation system was built. The construction of the substation was carried out using the “turnkey” method.
On 1 July 2021, Merko Ehitus Eesti acquired a stake in Connecto Eesti, and the Merko electrical construction business line merged with Connecto. Acting jointly under the Connecto brand makes it possible for us to offer a significantly broader range of services – in addition to the design, construction and maintenance of low, medium and high voltage electricity networks, Connecto also operates in the field of telecommunications and gas networks.
