A 14,500 m2 Y-block was built at the Mustamäe hospital complex, which is the NEMC’s centre for modern, patient-friendly oncological care for cancer patients.

An outpatient chemotherapy department, inpatient chemotherapy, hematology departments, house the Nephrology Centre’s hemodialysis department and the nephrology inpatient department, which require enhanced environmental technical solutions, are located in the Y-block. The Pathology Centre is also located in the new complex. The basement level of the building have a modern magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) centre, which gives hospital patients much better access to top-flight diagnostics.

Besides the Y-block, the A and B-blocks’ basement, ground floor lobby and adjoining areas – about 5,800 m2 – were renovated. The area where patients give blood samples for testing was moved to a larger area in the immediate vicinity of the main entrance and the rehabilitative care centre’s treatment areas were moved to one central area more easily accessible for patients.

As part of the scope of the contract, renovation were also carried out in the existing inpatient wing – elevator shafts on all 13 floors were renovated, new elevators were installed and the departments’ areas where care is provided were expanded.
