It was the largest apartment building that Merko Ehitus had built so far. This time, the construction started with demolition, as the half-finished framework next to the Academy of Music had to be taken down first. One of the most exiting stages in the construction process was the dig-ging of a hollow and climbing out of it with the new building. The entire hollow was surrounded with the elements of 13-metre sheeting and it was timbered across the hole with steel poles with the diameter of 800 mm. The hollow was the deepest alongside Tatari Street, its depth reached 8 metres. Outdoor works included the insulation of the building, frontal plastering and tiling, mounting of curb-stones and pavement stones, paving with as-phalt, mounting of fences, landscaping and the installation of street lights.
