For the electrical consumption needs of the largest granule factory in the Baltics – completed in 2014 and having launched production in 2015 – Merko designed and built the necessary electrical systems from the distribution grid’s connection point up to the factory’s main electrical cabinets. The plant’s key equipment are fed by four 10/0.4 kV transformers, each one rated at 3,150 kVA. In the course of the work, two substation buildings were constructed, which besides transformers, have 10 kV and 0.4 kV switchgears. A total of 7 km of power cables were laid between the cable ways and clearances established between substations and equipment. The work began in spring 2014 and the electricity needed for bringing the plant on line reached the various factory units in November that year.
On 1 July 2021, Merko Ehitus Eesti acquired a stake in Connecto Eesti, and the Merko electrical construction business line merged with Connecto. Acting jointly under the Connecto brand makes it possible for us to offer a significantly broader range of services – in addition to the design, construction and maintenance of low, medium and high voltage electricity networks, Connecto also operates in the field of telecommunications and gas networks.
