Despite the poor condition of the old substation, the need for reconstruction was driven in the first place by the desire to integrate a wind farm. Since the delivery dates of more complicated devices for this project were 6–7 months, the working schedule was strenuous already from the very beginning. The technical design, for example, had to be ready by January 2008, C1T (first half of the substation) energized by August 2008 and C2T (second half of the substation) energized by October 2008. Works started with designing and ordering the equipment.
Aseri substation was rather complicated also from the perspective of the secondary unit, because the networks of both Jaotusvõrk and Põhivõrk required connecting. The substation was handed over to the contracting entity on time and it is being used purposefully.
Aseri substation is a good example that Merko has a competent and competitive team for building 110 kV substations.
On 1 July 2021, Merko Ehitus Eesti acquired a stake in Connecto Eesti, and the Merko electrical construction business line merged with Connecto. Acting jointly under the Connecto brand makes it possible for us to offer a significantly broader range of services – in addition to the design, construction and maintenance of low, medium and high voltage electricity networks, Connecto also operates in the field of telecommunications and gas networks.
