Concrete Book. Concrete Buildings in 21st century Estonia

The comprehensive book, commissioned by the Estonian Concrete Association and the Association of Construction Material Producers of Estonia, gives an overview of contemporary Estonian concrete architecture and concrete construction on the basis of the 2000-2019 winning works of the Concrete Building of the Year contest, the oldest construction contest in Estonia.

The richly illustrated book with texts in Estonian, English and Russian contains numerous interviews with Estonian architects, builders, heads of construction and concrete companies, as well as overview articles on the history of Estonian concrete architecture and the history of the Concrete Building of the Year contest.

Among the projects completed by Merko, the book includes the Tondiraba Ice Rink (Concrete Building of the Year 2014), the reconstruction of the Ülemiste traffic junction (winner in 2013), the Tallink office building (2009) and the Puurmani arch bridge (2007). Over the years, we have also been involved in the completion of several construction projects that have won special awards.

We supported the publication of the book to celebrate concrete as a valuable building material and to promote these beautiful and durable buildings.
