As a result of cooperation between the specialists of its civil engineering division and TalTech engineers, Merko Ehitus Eesti AS built a water treatment test unit for the university for studying various water treatment technologies and materials for both wastewater treatment and drinking water purification plants. The new device will enrich the studies of environmental engineering students and provide practical information to water companies, enabling the development of technologies for the separation of drugs or heavy metal residues from wastewater. The test device is controlled by an online automation controller, which allows for remote monitoring and control of longer tests. The device was tested at the Tartu water treatment plant and in September 2019 it was installed in TalTech’s new laboratory.
