Within the framework of the contract, the cable line was replace the 110-kV overhead line between Kadaka and Veskimetsa substations in Tallinn. The cable line was partially replace the 110-kV overhead lines between Harku and Veskimetsa and Harku and Kadaka substations. The total length of the cables to be installed was approximately 10 kilometers. The construction of new high-voltage cables improved the security of supply in the Mustamäe and Haabersti districts and in the vicinity of Tallinn. As the existing overhead lines were dismantled after the installation of new cables, the visual impact of overhead lines in Õismäe and Astangu areas on urban space was reduced.
Both open and closed methods were used for cable installation. The underground cable was laid over the entire route to a depth of 1.5-6 meters. After the work was completed, the asphalt pavement of the carriageway and sidewalks were restored, and thousands of square meters of greenery were built.
The work is carried out by the consortium AS Merko Infra and Connecto Eesti AS.
On 1 July 2021, Merko Ehitus Eesti acquired a stake in Connecto Eesti, and the Merko electrical construction business line merged with Connecto. Acting jointly under the Connecto brand makes it possible for us to offer a significantly broader range of services – in addition to the design, construction and maintenance of low, medium and high voltage electricity networks, Connecto also operates in the field of telecommunications and gas networks.
