Andris Bišmeistars to become the new CEO of Merks as of April

There will be a change in the Management Board of SIA Merks as of 1 April 2020. Oskars Ozoliņš, who has held the position of the Chairman of the Management Board since 2012, will leave the company. Current Member of the Management Board and Construction Director Andris Bišmeistars will start as the new Chairman of the Management Board of and the Board will continue with one member.

“I have been working in construction business and in Merks for 17 years now, which means I have devoted 40% of my entire life and 65% of my professional life to this great company. The past 7 years I have been in the position of CEO. According to almost all management theories about a person and top manager being efficient in one company, I have reached the limits and it is time to give the helm to my good colleague, Andris Bišmeistars. Andris has been working in Merks since 2005 in different positions, knowing very well the construction business, the company and the team. I am sure he together with our ambitious team will achieve good results for Merks. I will serve until the end of March, focusing on giving Andris all the necessary support in taking over the management of the company and supporting the team ensuring the change of the management will go smoothly,” said Oskars Ozoliņš.

In addition to the Management Board, there will be a change in the Supervisory Board of SIA Merks – current member of the Board, Janis Šperbergs will resign and the Board will continue with three members: Andres Trink (Chairman), Tõnu Toomik, and Priit Roosimägi.

During Oskars Ozoliņš position as CEO, Merks has become one of the top construction companies in Latvia, the aggregate turnover has reached half a billion euros, the company has built some of the landmark buildings such as concert halls in Liepāja and Ventspils, as well as Akropole shopping centre in Riga, but also few smaller buildings ones like Exupery international school and faculty of energy for Riga Technical University. In addition, Merks has developed and built homes to over 600 families in Riga over the last seven years.
