Partial renovation of the 330 kV switchgear at Paide substation took place over two years, as it was possible to schedule the necessary power cuts in the important 330 kV power grid only in the summer 2012 and 2013. The partial renovation took place in complicated conditions on the territory of a substation with live electrical equipment. A new overhead line cell was built for connecting to the Eesti Power Plant substation, along with new cells and foundations for 330 kV transformers, of which one was replaced with a new one in the framework of a separate procurement. The existing substation building was partially demolished and a new roof was installed on the remaining part of the building, with the building gaining a more modern appearance. New 20 kV switchgear was also built, to which the substation’s new local transformer and reactors were hooked up.

On 1 July 2021, Merko Ehitus Eesti acquired a stake in Connecto Eesti, and the Merko electrical construction business line merged with Connecto. Acting jointly under the Connecto brand makes it possible for us to offer a significantly broader range of services – in addition to the design, construction and maintenance of low, medium and high voltage electricity networks, Connecto also operates in the field of telecommunications and gas networks.
