The purpose of the construction work was to ensure the water supply and sewerage service to Tallinn Prison, which is being built, and the water supply to consumers and hydrants in the potential industrial area in Soodevahe village. In total, 4 km of water pipe and 3 km of sewerage pipe were designed and built in Soodevahe village and waste water pump stations with emergency tanks and a pressure pump station with water reservoirs were built. The water used by consumers is abstracted and waste water routed to the pipes of the water utility AS Tallinn Vesi at two connection points on Suur-Sõjamäe street and the end of Betooni street.
The construction work was done during a very rainy time and the pipelines had to be laid directly into a wetland area. In two places, the pipes were drilled through beneath the railway and inside the limestone. In the course of the project, 1,000 m³ of water reservoirs were built for the prison’s fluctuating water consumption and fire-fighting water reserve, and 240 m³ of emergency tanks were built for the sewerage pumping station for the same reason. The capacity of the waste water pumping station is 252 m³/h and that of the pressurisation pump is 343 m³/h.
