The renovation of the 110 kV substation at Saare between Tartu and Mustvee allows Elering to ensure the reliability of supply in the southern region of Estonia’s electrical system. Under a turnkey design and building contract, a new H-configured 110 kV switchgear installation with three capacity switches and a control building with cable cellar were built in place of the old decommissioned Saare substation. Two overhead lines and the power transformer were connected to the switchgear and the transformer was moved onto a new basin foundation. The substation equipment was integrated with the control, auxiliary and verification systems. The design allows the Saare substation to be expanded in future if it should prove necessary to meet demand from existing or new power consumers.

On 1 July 2021, Merko Ehitus Eesti acquired a stake in Connecto Eesti, and the Merko electrical construction business line merged with Connecto. Acting jointly under the Connecto brand makes it possible for us to offer a significantly broader range of services – in addition to the design, construction and maintenance of low, medium and high voltage electricity networks, Connecto also operates in the field of telecommunications and gas networks.
