The aim of the modernisation of the central square of Kuressaare and its immediate surroundings was creating an attractive and friendly modern public space that would enhance its historical heritage and provide a pleasant environment for people of all ages throughout the year. The project improved the conditions for providing catering and retail services and arranging various events. During construction work, we renovated the utility networks and lighting of the town square; we built a market hall and a fountain; installed new street covers; and we built a terrace and public toilets for Kuressaare Town Hall.
Public architecture contest for Kuressaare town centre was arranged by the Estonian Association of Architects as part of the Good Public Space programme for the centenary of the Republic of Estonia.
