In October 2009, the Solaris Centre was opened. This is the largest entertainment, trade and cultural centre in Tallinn. Net area of 6,235 m² accommodates the modern 1800-place Nokia Concert Hall, the construction of which took into account the possibility of organising concerts and performances with acoustic as well as digital sound. The hall was constructed considering also the requirements for ballet and opera performances. In addition, the building includes the Cinamon cinema centre and the two-hall art house cinema Artis. The building also holds a three-hall Dance Academy, 13 places for dining and a roof terrace with fascinating design. In addition, Solaris has the largest bookstore in the town, 14,000 m² of office spaces, trade, TV studio, Tallinn Press Centre and, deep underground, also a parking lot with 240 spaces. The building contains two underground full floors and five floors above the ground. Thanks to spacious rooms and large atriums, the building covers 258,000 m³. One rule of construction of the building was lots of space and plenty of natural materials.
